Murasaki

Murasaki takes its name from the Japanese word for purple, a color once restricted to the highest ranks of the imperial court and still the most storied shade in the language.

Two beads hang from a teardrop post. The upper is faceted Czech glass in clear violet, cut to throw light in small pieces. Below it sits a larger bead where the color breaks apart, purple shifting into bronze and green depending on where you stand, so the drop never quite reads the same twice.

Every bead is set on its own gold-plated head pin and hand-looped closed. Nothing is glued, and nothing shifts. It is slower to make this way, which is why these hold up.

The color shift falls differently across every bead. This pair is the only one like it.

At 1.1 inches, Murasaki is a short drop. It moves when you do, without reaching past the jaw, which makes it easier to wear throughout the workday than most dangles.
