About Moko

Moko is a small jewelry studio based in Carmel, Indiana. Everything
we sell is made by us in small batches.

We braid kumihimo cord, tie mizuhiki knots, and string Japanese seed
beads such as Miyuki, Toho, and Delica, alongside Czech pressed glass,
freshwater pearl, and gemstones. Every product page lists exactly what
that piece is made of, so you always know what you are wearing.

These are old techniques. Mizuhiki knotwork has been used in Japan for
centuries to tie offerings and gifts, each knot carrying its own
meaning. Kumihimo braiding is older still. We aren't reproducing
traditional work exactly. We're making pieces we want to wear, using
methods worth keeping alive.

Our pieces carry Japanese names because each one started with a color
or a feeling that had a word already. Kasumi is the mist that settles
over hills at first light. Kohaku is amber. Kori is ice.

Because everything is assembled by hand, no two pieces are identical.
Bead placement shifts. Glass varies between batches. We think that's
the point.
