Ruri
$44.00
Only 4 madeRuri takes its name from the Japanese word for lapis lazuli, the deep blue stone shot through with gold that has been prized in Japan since it arrived along the Silk Road.
Three beads fall in a linked line. The top two are faceted bicones, one clear cobalt and one clear English cut Czech glass that breaks the color with a flash of white. At the bottom hangs a diamond-shaped Czech glass bead in deep blue, its surface washed with green and scattered with gold, so it reads like stone rather than glass from any distance.
The whole piece is wire-linked, every focal bead set on its own gold-plated head pin and hand-looped closed. Nothing is glued, and nothing shifts. It is slower to make this way, which is why these hold up.
The gold wash and green shift vary across each bead, so no two are the same. This pair is the only one like it.
At 1.5 inches, Ruri is the shortest drop in the line. Close enough to the ear to wear with a collar, long enough to catch light when you turn your head.
Care
Remove before swimming, showering, or sleeping, and keep perfume and lotion off the posts to protect the gold plating. Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Store in the pouch provided.

Keep your piece away from perfume, hairspray, and lotions, and put jewelry on last when getting ready. Store it in a dry place, flat and out of direct sunlight. A little water will not hurt it, just wipe it dry afterward with a soft cloth. For gemstones, an occasional gentle wipe is all they need.
