Shigure

$46.00

Only 4 made

Shigure takes its name from the cold intermittent rain of late autumn in Japan, the kind that passes through and leaves the light changed behind it.

Three beads fall along a fine chain. The top two are faceted glass in smoky blue-grey, cut to catch light in flat planes rather than sparkle. At the bottom hangs a round, iridescent bead set in filigree caps, and it does not hold a single color. Turn your head, and it moves through violet, green, and pale gold before settling back to grey.

Everything here is stainless steel. Posts, chain, head pins, all of it. There is no plating to wear thin and nothing that reacts with skin, which makes this the pair to reach for if most earrings give you trouble. It also means the finish stays as it is, indefinitely.

The iridescence falls differently across every bead. This pair is the only one like it.

At 2 inches from post, Shigure is long enough to move with you and light enough to forget you are wearing it. The coolest piece in the line, and the one that pairs with grey and navy, whereas the gold pieces do not.

Care

Stainless steel resists tarnish and holds up to daily wear better than any plated finish. Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Remove before swimming or sleeping to protect the glass and the loops, and store in the pouch provided.

A note about some of these photographs:
These images were created or edited with AI assistance to show color and scale consistently across our catalog. The piece itself is entirely handmade by us. Bead placement and color will vary slightly in the pair you receive.

Materials

  • Faceted glass
  • stainless steel throughout

Keep your piece away from perfume, hairspray, and lotions, and put jewelry on last when getting ready. Store it in a dry place, flat and out of direct sunlight. A little water will not hurt it, just wipe it dry afterward with a soft cloth. For gemstones, an occasional gentle wipe is all they need.
