Shizuku

Shizuku takes its name from the Japanese word for a single droplet, the one that gathers at the edge of something and falls.

Four beads sit in a short stacked line. The top three are Czech fire-polished glass in pale blue, faceted close together so they read as one column of light rather than three separate beads. Below them hangs a smooth teardrop, opalescent and unfaceted, catching light softly where the beads above it break it into pieces.

Everything here is stainless steel. Posts, links, and head pins, all of it. There is no plating to wear thin, which makes this a good pair if most earrings give you trouble. Stainless steel contains a small amount of nickel bound into the alloy, but it releases very little and is well tolerated by most people with metal sensitivities.

At 1.1 inches from stud, Shizuku is the shortest piece in the collection. It sits at the earlobe and moves just enough to catch the light, making it the easiest thing here to wear every day without thinking about it.
